About The Position

Provide Primary Care services to members of the South Central School Trust and their dependents and also provide Transitional Care visits to patients being discharged from JMH. This position will be housed at the Immediate Care/Occupational Health Center. Examine and treat patients under supervision of physician within the appropriate scope of practice. Including but not limited to: Obtaining patient histories and performing physical examinations, ordering and /or performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, formulating a diagnosis, developing and implementing a treatment plan, monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions, assisting at surgery, offering counseling and education to meet patient needs, and making appropriate referrals. Analysis of vital signs and tests as well as exam findings under the direction of the supervising physician. Maintain documentation of all encounters with patients either by phone or face-to-face, including history and physical, exam, plan of action, medical necessity, tests and treatment. Code appropriately according to documentation and medical decision making of visit. All prescriptions must be written or signed by supervising physician for PA in the state of Indiana. Log and track 100% of charts for supervising physician to review daily. Perform standard clinical procedures such as Venipuncture, IV therapy, Catheter placement, EKG, injections, suturing of uncomplicated superficial lacerations not involving major nerves or tendons, removal of sutures, collections of specimens for cultures, removal of foreign bodies. In the absence of the supervising physician, the physician assistant is responsible to the alternate supervising physician as designated. Participates in Hospital medical education programs as well as all other hospital education and compliance requirements. Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and Johnson Memorial Health policies and procedures including Blood and Body Substance Precautions. Participates in organizational quality improvement activities as necessary. Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

Current Indiana license as a Physician Practitioner
Current National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants certificate required.
ACLS/PALS or BLS at minimum required.
