About The Position

This position is located with the Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, Occupational Medicine, in San Diego California. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service Physician Assistant Salary: $102,246 to - $132,923 per year Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton is located on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton which is the major West Coast base of the U.S. Marine Corps and serves as its primary amphibious training base. It's the U.S. Marine Corps largest West Coast expeditionary training facility, encompassing more than 125,000 acres of Southern California terrain. It's located on the coast, in San Diego County, and bordered by Oceanside to the south, San Clemente to the north, and Fallbrook to the east. NHCP is housed in a four story, 500,000 square foot medical treatment facility located near the main gate of Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. The 38-bed facility is a medium size, teaching hospital that provides outpatient and inpatient care for active duty service members, their family members, retirees, and other eligible beneficiaries.

Requirements

  • US Citizens
  • Education: Graduation from a physician assistant educational program, accredited by the Accreditation Review Committee on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or its predecessors, at a college, university, or educational institution that is accredited by an accrediting body or organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
  • Certification: Successful completion of the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) examination; must maintain status as a certified physician assistant, including completion of all requirements for Continuing Medical Education (CME) and re-certification.
  • Licensure: Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician Assistant from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • Exemption: You are exempt from the license requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0603 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before.
  • Experience: A minimum of one full year of work experience as a certified physician assistant which includes obtaining medical history, performing examinations, and prescribing medications.
  • This definition of experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of professional direct health care clinic duties within the field of Occupational Medicine in support of the Medical Readiness.
  • Perform health assessments, deployment health assessment, separation physicals, commissioning physicals and retirement physicals.
  • Gather health and medical history from the patient or family member to record findings.
  • Order laboratory tests, X-rays and other procedures to complete assessment of the patient.
  • Prescribe for and treat a variety of diseases, disorders and injuries.
  • Provide consultation, teaching, and coordination with patients and their family members o f treatment and medical care.
