About The Position

The Physician – Dermatology Trainee is a licensed physician seeking to develop specialized expertise in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology under the supervision of experienced dermatologists. This role is designed to provide structured, hands-on training in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of dermatologic conditions while delivering high-quality patient care. The trainee will progressively build clinical competency, procedural skills, and dermatology-specific knowledge while adhering to all clinical, ethical, and regulatory standards.

Requirements

Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution
Active and unrestricted medical license in the State of Oregon (or eligibility to obtain prior to start date)
DEA license (or eligibility to obtain)
Completion of an accredited residency program (preferred but not always required depending on training model)
Prior exposure to dermatology (clinical rotations, electives, or experience) preferred
Strong clinical and diagnostic skills
Interest in dermatology and procedural medicine
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume clinical environment
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality care
High level of professionalism, ethics, and integrity
Willingness to learn and adapt in a structured training environment
Team-oriented mindset with strong collaboration skills
Commitment to delivering exceptional patient care
Ability to stand for extended periods during procedures
Manual dexterity for performing minor surgical procedures
Ability to perform repetitive clinical tasks

Responsibilities

Evaluate, diagnose, and treat common dermatologic conditions under physician supervision
Perform comprehensive skin examinations, including full-body skin checks
Develop treatment plans for conditions such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, skin cancers, and other dermatologic disorders
Participate in the management of chronic dermatologic diseases
Assist with and progressively perform dermatologic procedures, including: Skin biopsies (shave, punch, excisional)
Cryotherapy and lesion destruction
Surgical excisions and closures
Cosmetic procedures (as appropriate and trained)
Maintain proper sterile technique and adherence to infection control standards
Accurately document patient encounters in the EMR in a timely manner
Ensure all charts are completed, coded, and signed according to practice standards
Comply with HIPAA, OSHA, and all applicable federal and state regulations
Follow billing and coding guidelines with supervision and training
Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care
Educate patients on diagnoses, treatment plans, and preventive skin care
Maintain a professional and approachable demeanor with patients and staff
Work closely with supervising dermatologists, advanced practice providers, and clinical staff
Participate in case discussions, training sessions, and continuing education opportunities
Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and professional development
Accept feedback and incorporate it into clinical practice
