About The Position

This position provides medical care, acute and chronic, to each patient and supports the psychiatric services of assigned units. Medical care includes medical management of acute and chronic medical problems, assessing injuries, providing emergency medical management, performing comprehensive admission and annual physical examinations, prenatal and obstetrical care as required, postoperative care when patients are returned from surgical procedures, and performing special procedures as needed. The patients’ age group may vary from adolescents to geriatrics. Even though primarily assigned to a specific area, s/he can be called upon to cover other service areas as and when required and to cross-cover other PE’s when they are on vacation or otherwise absent.

Requirements

  • Licensed as a Physician Assistant by the North Carolina Medical Board or approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner by the North Carolina Board of Nursing and the North Carolina Medical Board.
  • Selected applicants must be able to pass a State Bureau of Investigation Criminal History Check, and complete and pass BLS/CPR training and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training during orientation.
  • Positions in the Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities shall be subject to pre-employment drug testing and criminal record background checks.
  • All employees are required to adhere to the facility's Vaccination Policy.
