About the position

This position is for a dentist within the Federal service, specifically in locations such as Chinle, AZ, Inscription House, AZ, Kayenta, AZ, and several others in Arizona and New Mexico. The role requires a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from an accredited institution. Applicants must also have passed the National Board Dental Examinations (NBDE) and possess a current, unrestricted license to practice dentistry. The position involves evaluating, diagnosing, and treating diseases and disorders of the oral cavity and maxillofacial area. This is an Open Continuous Announcement, meaning applicants will be referred as vacancies occur.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, prevent, diagnose, and treat diseases, injuries, and disorders of the oral cavity and maxillofacial area.
  • Perform professional dentistry work including the removal of decay, filling cavities, straightening, extracting, and repairing teeth.
  • Treat gum diseases and perform corrective surgery.
  • Make measurements/models for dentures to replace missing teeth.
  • Administer anesthetics and write prescriptions.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from an accredited school.
  • Passed the National Board Dental Examinations (NBDE).
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice dentistry.
  • Ability to distinguish shades of color.
  • One or more years of professional experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completion of a 2-year residency program in dentistry or related medical science.
  • Specialization in areas such as Orthodontics, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Pediatric Dentistry, etc.
