About The Position

The Staff Psychiatrist provides comprehensive psychiatric care to assigned patients and serves as a multidisciplinary treatment team leader. Responsibilities include conducting psychiatric, neurological, and physical assessments; reviewing diagnostic results; and developing and managing individualized treatment plans. The psychiatrist collaborates with physicians, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and other clinical staff, participates in treatment team meetings, and consults with internal and external healthcare providers as well as patients’ families or legally authorized representatives regarding patient care. The position maintains accurate and timely medical documentation in accordance with established standards and provides clinical oversight and consultation to interdisciplinary staff and mid-level providers. The Staff Psychiatrist may serve as backup physician coverage when needed and participates in medical staff meetings, committees, and other clinical activities that support patient care and program operations. The role also includes contributing to staff education and maintaining professional competency through ongoing continuing medical education.

Requirements

  • Must possess an unrestricted license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia, or obtain one prior to the start of employment
  • Medical degree and completion of an ACGME-approved psychiatry residency or a psychiatry fellowship prior to the start of employment.
  • Current DEA controlled Substance registration/licensed or obtain one prior to the start of employment.
