About The Position

Harris Health System is seeking a Physician to join the Correctional Health Medical Infirmary for 12-hour day shifts. This role offers the opportunity to work in a challenging yet rewarding, mission-driven environment, providing high-quality care to individuals housed in the Harris County Jail. You will also coordinate care with external hospitals when higher-level care is required and ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards. Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
  • Board Certified or Board-Eligible in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine
  • Must obtain and maintain board certification within required timeframe
  • Active Texas Medical Board license
  • Active DEA license
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited 3- or 4-year residency program
  • Proficiency in suturing, splinting, and EKG interpretation
  • Strong clinical judgment and patient care skills
  • Above Average Verbal (heavy public contact)
  • Exceptional verbal communication (public speaking)
  • Strong written communication (correspondence and reports)
  • Computer proficiency
  • Analytical abilities
  • Mathematics and medical terminology
  • Research knowledge and capabilities
