Join our team of seasoned professionals and become a part of the fabric of the New York food scene Role Overview:  The Picking Shift Lead is responsible for overseeing daily order picking operations to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and quality standards consistent with Citarella Gourmet’s premium brand. This role provides hands-on leadership to picking associates, ensures adherence to food safety and company standards, and supports on-time fulfillment for retail and customer orders.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of warehouse, fulfillment, or food distribution experience
  • Prior lead, supervisor, or team coordinator experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of picking processes and inventory flow
  • Ability to lead by example in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with RF scanners or warehouse management systems
  • Food handling or food safety experience
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
  • Experience working with perishable or specialty food products

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate picking operations to ensure accurate, efficient order fulfillment
  • Supervise, train, and support picking associates; serve as primary floor contact
  • Monitor workload and reallocate labor to meet volume and productivity demands
  • Ensure proper handling of perishable, gourmet, and specialty food items
  • Conduct quality checks to maintain accuracy, presentation, and food safety standards
  • Track productivity, accuracy, and completion metrics; coach team to meet KPIs
  • Enforce safety, sanitation, and equipment compliance in all picking areas
  • Coordinate with packing, shipping, and receiving teams to maintain workflow
  • Communicate shift priorities, performance updates, and end-of-shift reports to leadership
