About The Position

AECOM is seeking a highly talented Piping/Mechanical Lead to join our Piping Design team. This will be a hybrid position including a combination of both remote and in-office, that can be based in, but not limited to: New Orleans, LA; Austin, TX; Dallas, TX; Houston, TX.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field + 6 years of relevant experience or a demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Design/drafting experience with civil/structural scope for industrial design projects
  • Proficiency with AutoCad, Navisworks, and/or LFM laser scanning software.

Nice To Haves

  • 2D drafting AND 3D modeling experience with Autodesk software products is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Proficiency with the following civil/structural design drawing content:
  • OSHA-compliant platforms, stairs, and guardrail systems.
  • Structural support for piping systems.
  • Structural steel plans, sections and details for industrial structures.
  • Reinforced concrete plans, sections and details for equipment foundations and structural steel framing system foundations.
  • Structural support for electrical cable tray systems.
  • Welding nomenclature.
  • Pre-engineered building systems and the associated architectural components.
  • Underground utilities.
  • Area paving.
  • General grading and drainage.

Responsibilities

  • Piping design professional with leadership experience.
  • Works under minimal direction.
  • Performs complex CADD assignments and coordinates CADD drawing production in support of the CADD manager.
  • Performs 3D modeling and drawing extraction utilizing Plant3D, Autocad, Revit and Navisworks to achieve set results and deadlines.
  • Digitize or trace sketches or concepts from designers using CADD software, such as AutoCAD or MicroStation.
  • Decisions made with general understanding of procedures, company policies, and business practices to achieve general results and deadlines.
  • Responsible for setting own project deadlines.
  • Understands the implications of work and makes recommendations for solutions.
  • Determines methods and procedures on new assignments.
  • May lead project designs and less experienced designers and drafters.
