Learn more at This Planner & Allocator Intern position provides hands-on experience within the Merchandise Planning & Inventory Allocation teams. The intern will support merchandise inventory replenishment strategies to drive departmental sales and assist in managing inventory, profitability, and turnover objectives. We seek a motivated, curious, and detail-oriented Product Planning Intern to assist in omni-channel planning and allocation for multiple product lines, including footwear, accessories, and apparel. This entry-level role reports to the Associate Merchandiser and offers a valuable opportunity to gain insight into product merchandising and allocation strategies. Scope of Role: The intern will support the product planning and allocation team in ensuring the right products reach the right locations at the right time, helping to achieve sales and margin targets while enhancing Lucchese’s brand presence and customer experience. This role provides exposure to the inner workings of a collaborative merchandising and planning team while working cross-functionally with warehouse operations, product design, visual merchandising, digital marketing, brand marketing, vendors, and retail store teams.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical mindset with a passion for problem-solving and data-driven decision-making.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, charts, and reports) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey ideas clearly and effectively.
  • Highly organized with great attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Interest in fashion, retail, and luxury merchandising with a desire to build a career in product planning.
  • A proactive creative thinker with a solution-oriented approach.
  • Consumer-centric mindset in all decision-making processes.
  • 0-2 years of experience in product merchandising, retail, or wholesale sales.
  • Currently enrolled or recently graduated with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in fashion merchandising, marketing, business administration, or a related field.
  • Must be available to work in Dallas, Texas for the full internship duration (relocation/housing not provided).

  • Familiarity with NetSuite, Adobe, and AirTable is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with administrative and operational merchandising tasks.
  • Prepare data reports to support inventory management and store performance analysis.
  • Work with the demand planner to assess future production requirements.
  • Assist in creating model stock levels and reporting tools to optimize inventory distribution.
  • Support the allocation team in executing inventory strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Help prepare store replenishments to maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Monitor inventory flow and recommend adjustments to improve sell-through rates.
  • Analyze store performance data to provide recommendations for product distribution.
  • Work closely with the merchandising, digital, and retail teams to align inventory strategies with marketing initiatives.
  • Participate in meetings and contribute to discussions on inventory planning and product performance.
  • Support vendor and supply chain coordination to ensure timely product availability.
  • Conduct research on market trends, consumer demand, and competitive pricing strategies.
  • Provide insights into new opportunities for optimizing product allocation and inventory planning.
  • Assist in identifying key merchandising trends that align with Lucchese’s luxury and Western heritage positioning.
