As a Plant EHS Representative II at the University of Iowa, you will support the safe execution of utility plant operations and infrastructure projects across both University campuses. You will manage health, safety, and environmental activities for operating plants and construction projects tied to expansion and maintenance of the utility system. Your role serves as a bridge between field execution and corporate compliance, ensuring all work meets applicable federal, state, and local regulations while aligning with ENGIE health and safety programs. You will work closely with project development teams, contractors, and operations and maintenance staff to support project success from planning through execution. You will develop an understanding of technical system designs and field activities while enforcing strict health and safety requirements on active jobsites. Reporting to the Plant EHS Specialist, your roles and responsibilities include: Actively participates in the Health, Safety, and Environment program for construction projects and takes ownership of safety performance on contractor managed jobsites Serves as the subject matter expert for OSHA 1910 and OSHA 1926 standards Works directly with contractors to ensure contractor health and safety programs meet or exceed ENGIE health and safety standards Reviews contractor health and safety execution plans, including staffing and oversight requirements, to ensure compliance with ENGIE group rules governing contract work Conducts daily site inspections to identify hazards related to tools, equipment, machinery, and work practices Implements corrective actions to address identified safety risks and non compliant conditions Collaborates with project and operations teams to promote a strong safety culture across plant and project activities Performs other duties as assigned
