We are looking for an experienced Plant/Process Engineer for our Pulp & Paper Segment to support the Washougal, WA production facility by performing various engineering tasks as directed by the plant manager. In this role you will be responsible for: Improving chemical production and utility processes. Collaborating with production staff to improve safety, quality, and efficiency. Leading process safety activities, including: Management of Change Process hazard analysis Pre-start up reviews Root Cause Analysis and corrective actions for process incidents. Training personnel on new / changed processes. Providing technical and process safety support for new / experimental product trials. Developing and updating operating procedures, P&IDs, engineering records. Supporting or leading capital projects. Assisting with creation of SOPs for new and existing equipment and processes as needed. Developing competency to fill in for team members as needs arise.

Requirements

  • Chemical or Mechanical engineering degree
  • 3+ years of experience with chemical manufacturing, involving batch reactions.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills (English).
  • Demonstrated track record of self-motivation and skills growth.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks/ projects simultaneously within tight timeframes.
  • Strong interactive skills with all levels of plant organization.
  • Willingness to travel when required.
  • Demonstrated Process Engineering and project support skillset including: Process troubleshooting Process Hazard Analysis leadership Equipment sizing & specification PFD development Equipment startup & commissioning Automation & controls knowledge Project scope development Design safety reviews Contractor management Equipment ordering

  • The starting salary range for consideration for this position is $110,000 to $120,000 per year with opportunities for performance-based bonuses.
  • The actual starting salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to relevant employment history & experience, skill set/competencies, qualifications, and other business and organizational needs.
