About The Position

St. Edward's University of Austin, Texas invites applications for the position of Plant Engineering Technician I. The Plant Engineering Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the university's heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. This role also supports general building maintenance, including commercial kitchen equipment, basic plumbing, and electrical systems, ensuring a safe and functional environment for all building occupants. For consideration, candidates must have the following qualifications: Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Experience: A minimum of three (3) years combined vocational school training and paid practical experience in the care and maintenance of air-conditioning and heating equipment. BAS Proficiency: Demonstrated experience operating Building Automation Systems (BAS) to monitor building setpoints, schedules, and alarms. Work Order Management: Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) or similar digital platform to receive, document, and close out work orders. Specific Knowledge: Proven experience with troubleshooting control devices, including pneumatic systems. EPA Universal Certification (Section 608) for handling refrigerants. Valid Driver's License.
