If you love challenges, want to experience development opportunities unrestrained, and want recognition that pays off, then you've come to the right place with Lear.As a member of the IT team, the Plant IT Manager will be responsible for directing, planning, coordinating, and overseeing all information technology activities of Lear Tuscaloosa Campus in a just in time environment. Incumbents in this classification install computer systems, ensure that backup systems operate effectively, buy hardware and software, develop the IT infrastructure, and perform administrative and supervisory duties in coordination with overall management of information/communication services.The Role:Your work will include, but not be limited to: 

Requirements

  • BS degree in Information Systems or any related field with six years previous experience in the IT field.
  • Must have at least 7 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
  • Knowledge of the AS 400 operating system.
  • Knowledge of databases such as PeopleSoft, Kronos, JBA, etc. as needed to provide administrative oversight.
  • Knowledge of security systems (Camera’s, Door Readers, Badge systems)
  • Knowledge of networking systems to include how they are designed, capabilities, and limitations, and feasibility of systems.
  • Knowledge of peripheral equipment and their uses, capabilities and limitations as needed to determine equipment needs.
  • Knowledge of telecommunication equipment and support (Cell, VOIP, WAN).
  • Ability to support audio visual equipment (TV’s, projectors, paging systems)
  • Ability to influence senior management and corporate as needed to gain support for new IT services, obtain innovative technologies, and expand the IT department.
  • Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems including support of EDI.
  • Ability to analyze and make judgments on equipment needs, IT services, scope of assignments, allocation of resources, and project assignments as needed to oversee IT activities.
  • Ability to plan, assign, and direct the activities of IT employees performing a variety of technical, administrative, and clerical activities.
  • Ability to plan and implement short- and long-range plans and programs for the continuing expansion of IT services and equipment.
  • Must be willing to work extended periods of time or varying shift hours.
  • Ability to work outside of standard business hours both onsite and on call.
  • Must be able to operate JLG/Scissor Lifts

Responsibilities

  • Directs the work of IT personnel to provide the upkeep, maintenance, and security of networks and assign and review their work of their subordinates.
  • Manages all the information systems and computing resources.
  • Develops requirements, budgets, and schedules for IT projects and services.
  • Schedules upgrades and security backups of hardware and software systems and disaster recovery operations, ensuring the effectiveness of all IT systems, including anti-virus software, print services, and email provision.
  • Ensures total compliance of software licensing laws, approves secure access to the network for remote users, and ensures the security of data.
  • Manages crisis situations, which may involve complex technical hardware or software problems.
  • Mentors and trains new IT support staff and keeps abreast of the latest technologies.
  • Maintains and administers computer networks and related computing environments including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
  • Monitors the performance of computer systems and networks, and to coordinate computer network access and use.
  • Performs routine network startup and shutdown procedures and maintains control records.
  • Approves changes to improve systems, network configurations, and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes.
  • Monitors network performance to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future.
  • Monitors IT operations and complaints to identify and evaluate the effectiveness of operations and identifies problems that need to be addressed.
  • Reviews department requests for latest information systems equipment or services to ensure overall information technology operations will be maintained and no long-term compatibility problems will be created.
  • Evaluates employee performance and counsels’ employees concerning strengths and weaknesses.
  • Assigns and prioritizes work to IT staff based on their workload.
  • Responds to help desk requests for difficult and complex issues involving information technology services, needs, or problems.
  • Reviews all correspondence, requisitions, purchase orders or maintenance requests and approves or routes paperwork as needed.
  • Consults with vendor or corporate representatives to define equipment or service needs.
  • Develops and/or teaches training modules for new or current users to assist them in deficit areas.
  • Performs Sox monitoring and leads all IT Audits
