About The Position

The Plant Operator contributes to the success of day-to-day operations. Engage in the safe handling of Anhydrous Ammonia and Ammonium Hydroxide processes and applications to accommodate Airgas consumers. Maintains neat, clean, and professional personal appearance, and maintains facility to the professional standards modeled by the Airgas team. Listens to customers and builds alignment regarding service inquiries and needs. Bulk cargo tank loading/unloading/evacuation (anhydrous ammonia/ammonium hydroxide). Stewardship of the facility and all operational aspects. Truck and trailer maintenance including pump rebuilds and all other process pieces. Cold Flo sampling (anhydrous ammonia). Production and testing (ammonium hydroxide). Daily inventory/monitoring of products. Data recording/interpreting. Support the team in maintaining safety standards so they are collectively upheld. Complete plant inspections and hose inspections.

Requirements

  • Highschool Diploma or GED
  • General understanding of the safety requirements while working with hazardous material
  • Collaborative communicator who supports the team and understands instructions when performing daily operational tasks
  • Contributes to forecasting daily, weekly, and monthly production/maintenance requirements
  • Flexibility for 50-60 hours a week to support peak operations
  • Comfort with spending 80-90% of time working outside in the elements
  • Proficiency in basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages)
  • Comfort with lifting 50-60 lbs. as needed
  • Availability to work 12-14 hour shifts including holidays and weekends to ensure operational continuity
  • Stamina to be on your feet and mobile throughout the facility for the majority of the day

Nice To Haves

  • Background in basic engine, pump, and hydraulic repairs
  • CDL
