About The Position

Lead Converting department with the supervisors to maintain safety, quality, and efficient production. Superintendent is responsible for Converting supervisors.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED plus college and/or appropriate technical courses
  • Minimum Two years’ experience as a proven manager
  • Five years manufacturing experience
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • The individual must have a working knowledge of the following: Equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation. This also supports the supervisor's role of teacher and trainer for his/her personnel.
  • Cost issues in order to make daily decisions that will reduce overall costs and will help the supervisor find areas that require improvement.
  • Budget development, adherence and analysis.
  • Quality standards.
  • Regulatory requirements including but not limited to wage and hour requirements, environmental and waste minimization, company policies, and personnel requirements including OSHA, DEQ and EEO.
  • Superior time management skills including the ability to manage multiple issues concurrently, and the ability to lead an effective and efficient meeting.
  • Teaching skills in order to function effectively as a teacher for his personnel both in the sales, and administrative parts of the position.
  • Excellent crisis manager who demonstrates that he/she has a high emotional control under adverse conditions and can lead his/her personnel to a successful resolution.
  • Excellent employee relations skills including being an active listener, understanding how to appraise personnel, applying both positive and corrective feedback, being able to resolve conflicts either involving the supervisor directly or as a third party, understands and demonstrates positive motivational skills including coaching and delegation techniques.
  • Demonstrated confidence including providing a consistent leadership style with an acceptable level of professional assertiveness.
  • Professional appearance to support his/her role as a managerial representative.
  • Employee is regularly required to walk and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit. Vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee performance of shift supervisors. Communicate company standards to staff.
  • Establish high morale throughout your staff by showing fairness, consistency, and an interest in employee problems.
  • Report to the Plant Manager and Maintenance Manager any mechanical, scheduling, or personnel problems that may have significant effects on operations.
  • Oversee the proper training and manning of plant positions.
  • Oversee the inventory of parts and supplies in order to ensure a continuous operation.
  • Converting: Oversee inventories of sheets, ink and other converting supplies.
  • Responsible for the upkeep of machinery; coordinate maintenance work with a minimum of downtime.
  • Solve production problems that are not or cannot be resolved at the supervisory level.
  • Communicate with Accounting, Human Resources, and Purchasing the various needs of the Production Department as well as see those respective department needs are met by Production.
  • Work with Sales and Design on new styles or items for runability on existing equipment. Work with Sales Service to determine proper instructions forwarded to production for producing items.
  • Schedule production machines in the most effective and efficient ways possible.
  • Coordinate all production activity with sales, sales service and shipping to insure customers’ orders are being handled properly.
  • Conduct scheduling meetings with various staff members to explain shipping deadlines, existing and/or new orders, and any outstanding issues or problems.
  • Provide input for annual budget and capital plan.
  • Implement, maintain, and support all company policies and procedures, including union contract, safety program, and good housekeeping.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Additional duties may be assigned by management.
