About The Position

Sole Hire LLC is recruiting for a Plastics Engineer on behalf of an innovative manufacturing organization. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineering professional with hands -on experience in plastic part design, injection molding, tooling, materials selection, and process optimization. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical foundation in plastics engineering along with the ability to work cross -functionally with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to support new product development, manufacturing excellence, and continuous improvement. The Plastics Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and improvement of plastic components and associated injection molding processes. This role supports product development from concept through production, including material selection, tooling input, manufacturability review, quality planning, and process optimization. This position is well suited for someone who thrives in a fast -paced manufacturing environment and enjoys solving technical challenges related to molded parts, tooling, and production performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
  • 3–5 years of experience supporting new or existing customer projects involving:
  • Injection molding
  • Product design
  • Quoting
  • Process troubleshooting
  • Strong working knowledge of:
  • Polymer material properties
  • Plastic injection molding
  • Surface treatment and functionalization
  • Heat transfer principles
  • General plastics manufacturing methods

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD software
  • Ability to model moderately complex plastic components and assemblies
  • Knowledge of Moldflow mold -filling simulations
  • Familiarity with tooling design considerations and mold development
  • Experience interpreting engineering and manufacturing data to drive decisions

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop engineered plastic parts, assemblies, and insert -molded components
  • Support material selection, part quoting, and manufacturability evaluation for new and existing projects
  • Develop, improve, and troubleshoot injection molding and plastics fabrication processes
  • Help establish manufacturing controls and quality plans for molded products
  • Analyze production data and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency, quality, and output
  • Evaluate manufacturing line capabilities and identify opportunities for optimization
  • Establish process parameters required for an optimal molding environment
  • Support mold design efforts for both hot runner and cold runner molds
  • Review and interpret Moldflow, finite element analysis, and stress/fatigue data
  • Design secondary operation components and support downstream manufacturing needs
  • Collaborate closely with customers, suppliers, vendors, and internal engineering/manufacturing teams
  • Ensure molded components meet quality, functional, and performance expectations
  • Create 3D solid part designs and engineering models using CAD tools such as SolidWorks
