About The Position

Join our team as a PLC Controls Technician - 1st shift, where you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal performance of machinery and equipment. We are looking for an experienced and motivated PLC Controls Technician to join our manufacturing team. This role is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial automation and control systems. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and related equipment used in automated production environments. This position has an hourly range between $33.00-$40.00 DOE in addition to a quarterly incentive bonus.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, or related field. Bachelor’s degree a plus.
  • 2+ years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment as a Controls or Electrical Technician.
  • Proficiency in programming and troubleshooting PLC systems (e.g., Allen-Bradley RSLogix 5000, Siemen, Omron, etc.).
  • Experience with HMIs, VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), SCADA systems, and industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus).
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Modbus, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of electrical schematics, control panels, motor control circuits, and safety circuits.
  • Familiarity with OSHA, NEC, and NFPA 70E standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours or respond to emergencies as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, sensors, relays, and motor controllers.
  • Perform routine and emergency troubleshooting on manufacturing and process equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and program PLC-controlled equipment (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi).
  • Update and modify PLC and HMI code based on operational requirements or improvement initiatives.
  • Support and improve machine automation and control logic for production efficiency and reliability.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control drawings.
  • Assist in the design, programming, and modification of control systems and equipment upgrades.
  • Ensure all controls and electrical systems are in compliance with safety regulations and plant standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of control programs, schematics, electrical drawings, and system configurations.
  • Work closely with maintenance, engineering, and production teams to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Participate in installation and commissioning of new machinery and automation systems.
  • Support preventive maintenance programs for control systems and electrical components.
  • Train maintenance staff and operators on proper use and troubleshooting of automated systems.
