The Team You’ll Work With: The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Operations (DMO) works to advance the City's efforts to address policy matters across the five boroughs, coordinate operational efforts across the City's public agencies, improve access to services for all New Yorkers, and ensure agencies are run compassionately and effectively. The Deputy Mayor oversees 8 city agencies and 1 mayoral office: DOT, DEP, DSNY, DOB, DDC, SCA, Parks, TLC, and the Mayor’s Office of Climate and Environmental Justice. The Problems You’ll Solve: Reporting to a Senior Advisor, the Policy Advisor will be responsible for the following: - Assist the Senior Advisor as a liaison between the DMO and the Departments of Parks & Recreation, Transportation. - Advance Administration priorities related to transportation planning, safe streets, and open space access and programming. - Support inter-agency coordination and collaboration to ensure project and program delivery. - Provide program and project management support, especially on sensitive, logistically complex, and high-visibility initiatives. - Engage directly with agency staff who establish, implement, and monitor aggressive and streamlined schedules, budgets, and deliverables while mitigating setbacks and impacts. - Facilitate implementation of the strategic guidance and direction that is shared with agencies. - Work with Intergovernmental Affairs, City Legislative Affairs, State Legislative Affairs, and Federal Legislative Affairs to address incoming requests from elected officials and support agencies’ public engagement. - Support positive and robust stakeholder relationships with nonprofits, community-based organizations, and advocates. - Write, edit, and coordinate review of briefings, memos, and presentations to communicate complex policy and programmatic topics to wide audiences. - Coordinate across Deputy Mayor teams. - Operations, to monitor projects and assist in handling day-to-day issues. About You: - You have experience working in government. - You have prior experience with planning and stakeholder relations. - You have business operations, process design, and project management experience. - You can operate independently with excellent time management skills and confirmed ability to deliver on multiple, competing priorities in a dynamic environment. - You can effectively interact with people and partners across all levels within an organization. - You have proven ability to follow through on complex projects from ideas to implementation. - You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information into clear and compelling presentations for an array of audiences.

Requirements

  • You have experience working in government.
  • You have prior experience with planning and stakeholder relations.
  • You have business operations, process design, and project management experience.

  • You can effectively interact with people and partners across all levels within an organization.

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 5+ years of experience.
