Founded in 2007 by former Senate Majority Leaders Howard Baker, Tom Daschle, Bob Dole, and George Mitchell, the Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC) is a leading nonprofit organization that drives principled solutions through rigorous analysis, reasoned negotiation, and respectful dialogue. The BPC is currently seeking a Policy Analyst to support activities for BPC’s Energy Program. The Energy team is a dynamic and fast-moving group focused on the development of pragmatic
and
durable federal, regional, and state
policies
that help ensure the nation’s energy supplies are
reliable, affordable, and clean.

Our portfolio includes a wide array of energy and climate policy issues, including electricity, carbon management, natural gas and other fuels, energy infrastructure permitting and siting, energy innovation, AI and energy, critical minerals, and tax incentives and regulation. BPC’s Energy Program brings together political leaders and experts to produce reports and policy recommendations and works with stakeholders from other organizations to advance our policy
objectives. The position of Policy Analyst at BPC is a versatile one, involving a variety of tasks, often simultaneously. The analyst will be expected to learn about new and evolving policy issues and will interact with policy experts and political leaders.

Requirements

• Strong policy background with knowledge of the energy and climate policy landscape, key stakeholders, and technologies.
• Bachelor’s degree and 2 to 4 years of experience, preferably in policy, analysis or business; or
• Master’s degree with 0 to 2 years of experience
• Excellent quantitative and research skills
• Excellent writing and verbal communications skills
• Strong team player with a collaborative spirit
• Strong ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks with often overlapping deadlines while maintaining a high degree of thoroughness and accuracy

Responsibilities

• Conduct research on a range of energy issues
• Draft major written work products, including articles, white papers, reports, issue briefs, and fact sheets
• Participate in and support engagement with stakeholders and policy officials
• Work with events team and program staff to organize private and public convenings
• Support communications activities, including developing, reviewing, and editing materials and assisting with social media and other digital communications and outreach
• Work with BPC’s development team to draft grant proposals, grant reports, and support other donor management needs
• Mentor and oversee the work of interns who support the Energy Program team

Benefits

• BPC offers comprehensive health insurance benefits with a choice of open access HMO, POS, or PPO plan. HMO and POS individual plans have a monthly premium cost share of 10%. Dependent and Family HMO and POS plans are offered with a monthly cost share equal to 20% of the difference between the plan premium and the individual HMO monthly premium. PPO plans are offered with a 20% premium cost-share for all plans.
