Job Overview The Pool & Spa Technician is responsible for the seasonal startup, routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and winterization of residential pools, spas, and decorative water features. This role ensures all water systems are clean, balanced, operating efficiently, and prepared for seasonal transitions. The Technician represents the company on client properties, maintaining high service standards, clear communication, and a professional presence at all times.

Requirements

  • Prior pool/spa maintenance experience, preferred.
  • Certified Pool Operator certification, preferred.
  • Working knowledge of pool and spa systems, water chemistry, and seasonal care practices preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a daily service route efficiently.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding outdoor work.
  • Ability to load/unload chemical containers and equipment
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, humidity, and cool temperatures.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Michigan Driver’s License with clean driving record.
  • CDL with class C endorsement, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform spring pool and spa openings, including cover removal, equipment reassembly, system startup, cleaning, and chemical balancing.
  • Conduct routine weekly or scheduled maintenance, including water testing, chemical adjustments, vacuuming, skimming, brushing, and filter cleaning.
  • Inspect and maintain pumps, heaters, filters, plumbing lines, and automation systems to ensure proper operation.
  • Diagnose and report equipment malfunctions or repair needs to management.
  • Complete fall closings and winterizations, including system blowouts, antifreeze application, equipment protection, and cover installation.
  • Service and maintain decorative water features, fountains, and similar systems.
  • Safely handle and store pool chemicals in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate service records, water chemistry logs, and job documentation.
  • Load, unload, and transport equipment and materials safely between job sites.
  • Maintain a clean, organized service vehicle and uphold a professional appearance on client properties.
  • Communicate clearly with clients regarding service updates, recommendations, and system care.
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.
