Interstate Waste Services located in Newtown, CT is looking for a Porter / Garbage Container Cleaner. $20.00 per hour. Monday thru Friday and some Saturdays from 7AM to 3:30PM. Essential Job Summary: General Summary: Responsible for washing/sanitizing carts, garbage containers, and garbage toters in a safe, efficient, and courteous manner, in addition to general site clean-up duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of the pressure washer and its components and the basic maintenance requirements for safe & efficient operation.
  • Ability to read and write & comprehend work orders and daily assignments well enough to complete basic reports.
  • At least 1 year of work experience. Preferably in a labor type roll where you had to utilize cleaning or washing.
  • The ability to stand and work outside throughout an 8-hour shift.
  • The ability to lift 50 lbs. regularly.
  • Ability and willingness to work in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Performs daily inspections of pressure washer and related equipment.
  • Uses pressure washer to clean and sanitize plastic and metal containers for reuse up to 75-100 units/day.
  • Manipulates pressure washer wand, and occasionally a brush, to clean debris and stains from previously used containers to make them fit to deliver to new customers.
  • Gathers the necessary sizes and styles of containers to wash for the day to insure ensure efficient operation of other departments.
  • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
