About The Position

The Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (DOHNS) is among the top NIH-funded Otolaryngology programs nationally, with annual expenditures in excess of $6M and a total research budget of more than $25M. To support this large portfolio of work, DOHNS welcomes candidates for the role of Post-Award Accountant. The individual in this position will partner closely with other members of the research administration team and principal investigators to ensure the proper stewardship and management of extramural funds in support of the advancement of the department’s research mission. In addition to post-award accounting responsibilities, a portion of the responsibilities of this role will include general accounting/compliance activities in support of the department. This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Requirements

  • Experience with post-award financial management of a research program or programs.

Nice To Haves

  • At least one year of experience with post-award financial management including federally sponsored grants.
  • Previous UW-Madison experience
  • Previous experience with Workday
  • Experience in a medical school finance setting

Responsibilities

  • Provides expertise and advice related to procurement and allowable charges
  • Reviews financial expenditures for accuracy on sponsored grants and contracts
  • Assists principal investigators with financial management of sponsored program budgets and directs day-to-day fiscal transactions
  • Prepares and processes financial reporting and/or invoicing information
