About The Position

The Wang Laboratory at The Ohio State University is seeking an early-stage Postdoctoral Scholar, eager to support research studying autophagy functions in glia for breast cancer brain metastasis. The successful candidate will leverage a combination of advanced molecular and systems neuroscience methodologies to advance our understanding of selective autophagy and lipid metabolism in glial cells to ultimately gain insights into autophagy’s function in human neurodevelopmental disorders and breast cancer brain metastasis. This position provides the opportunity of strong mentorship and a close, multidisciplinary collaborative research environment.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Cancer Biology, Cell Biology, or in a comparable field or discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research setting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior research experience in: neuroscience, cell and molecular biology, cancer biology.
  • Experience in neural development, breast cancer, signal transduction, metabolism, autophagy, glia cells, cerebral organoids, and genetic mouse models.
  • Experience in scRNA-seq and snRNA-seq is ideal.
  • Experience in optogenetics and chemogenetics is preferred.
  • Track record of peer-reviewed publications
  • Prior experience and comfort presenting research.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the state-of-the-art research using genetic mouse models for histology, single-cell transcriptomic, and spatial transcriptomic analysis for brain metastasis research.
  • Utilizing hESC/iPSC derived human cerebral organoid for in vitro 3D models to examine the microenvironment of brain metastasis.
  • Adopt optogenetic and chemogenetic approaches to clarify the cell-cell interaction of neural cells with metastatic breast cancer cells in brain and cerebral organoids.
  • Prepare figures, manuscripts, abstracts, and grant submission materials for publication and/or presentation.
  • Present research findings at lab meetings, institutional seminars, and conferences/symposiums.
  • Mentor graduate students and/or junior trainees as appropriate.

Benefits

  • Eligible Ohio State employees receive comprehensive benefits packages, including medical, dental and vision insurance, tuition assistance for employees and their dependents, and state or alternative retirement options with competitive employer contributions.
