About The Position

Post Doctoral Scholar to join the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at The Ohio State University in studying mass spectrometry method development. While in the Hummon research group, this candidate will embark on a program of independent research with the primary goal to develop mass spectrometry methods in proteomics, metabolomics, and imaging. Duties will include conducting laboratory work centered around mass spectrometry method development for Spatial SILAC (stable isotope labeling by amino acids in cell culture); leading manuscript preparation for submission to peer-reviewed journals; and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.

Requirements

  • PhD in Analytical Chemistry or a related field by the time of hire is required
  • Strong theoretical or practical background in proteomics and imaging mass spectrometry and three-dimensional cell culture
  • Demonstrated experience operating and maintaining a QE mass spectrometer
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A collaborative mentality towards research and mentoring

Nice To Haves

  • Mastery of 3D cell culture techniques, including the implementation of quantitative Spatial SILAC approaches
  • These required and desired skills should be demonstrated through a record of peer-reviewed publications.
