The ultimate objective of the work in my laboratory is to understand the cellular and molecular basis of vertebrate embryonic induction, with a special emphasis on germ layer and organ formation. Toward this aim, we perform comparative studies using both amphibian and mammalian model systems, including human embryonic stem cells. The postdoc will work on a project studying coral stem cells. They will use proprietary micropattern technology and other tissue culture techniques to develop techniques to isolate, culture, and propagate adult and embryonic coral stem cells. Our lab places a strong emphasis on fostering a culture of open communication and collaboration, and we strive to build a supportive culture in our endeavors.
