The Department of Materials Science and Engineering, in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences is seeking a postdoctoral scholar. The final candidate will participate in development of high figure of merit thermoelectric materials. Strong experience in cooling materials synthesis and characterization is required for this role. Moreover, the candidate is expected to publish the scientific findings in high impact journal. This position requires extensive experience in the areas of thermoelectric materials synthesis and device fabrication/testing. These experiences will be evaluated based upon prior research experience and peer-reviewed high impact factor journal publications. Prior research experience in materials characterization, testbed development, etc. will be beneficial. Priorities will be given to the candidates who have experience in various fabrication techniques such as spark plasma sintering, hot-extrusion, ingot processing, device fabrication and testing etc. Further, the candidate should have experience with microstructure analysis via high-resolution microscopies. The candidate will be actively collaborating with multiple academic and industry team members and thus good communication skills are desired. The candidate is expected to participate in the development of project reports and proposals, and thus good technical writing skills are highly desired. Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate in Engineering, Material Science, Physics or related fields.
