About The Position

The Pour Line Operator (Foam Industry) is responsible for operating and monitoring equipment that mixes and pours chemical components to produce foam products such as polyurethane foam blocks, cushions, insulation panels, or molded parts. This role is critical in ensuring product quality, consistency, and safety throughout the foam production process. The position will support all facets of the Pour Line production process; as this role is valuable within the organization, as a key component to ensure a quality product is being produced. Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and be able to prioritize the daily orders and workloads. Must be comfortable working around machinery, chemicals, and adhere to safety policies that are site specific and within industry standards. Must be physically fit to work in area specific environment and pass annual respirator fit testing.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED High school diploma or GED (preferred)
  • Basic mechanical and technical aptitude
  • Ability to understand mixing ratios and follow production formulas
  • Attention to detail and strong quality awareness
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift materials as required
  • Knowledge of chemical handling and PPE requirements

Responsibilities

  • Be a self-starter and a team player.
  • Follows direction of Lead and/or Manager, as to the type and quantity of material(s) to position on conveyor(s) for filling orders.
  • Works directly with the Pour Line Lead and/or Manager to coordinate and implement all directives in a positive and professional manner for Foam production.
  • Will clean and maintain designated work area(s).
  • Make sound decisions, anticipate and adapt to changing needs and resolve problems.
  • Communicate professionally, effectively, and with courtesy with employees, managers, customers, vendors, and other departments.
  • Follow 5s and all safety policies and procedures.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
  • Will set-up film and prepare pour tunnel for each scheduled pour.
  • Will perform visual inspections during pour, monitor gauges, and pumps throughout entire pouring process.
  • Will run pour-skis to establish correct bun height during each pour.
  • Assist with visual inspections and report any defects during pouring process.
  • Responsible for accurately measuring and documenting foam products and will safely use the cut-off saw to cut scrap foam blocks and manually pull foam blocks off conveyor.
  • May maneuver foam material with the use of an industrial-powered truck and/or roll cart.
  • Responsible to maintain a clean and safe pour head and line.
  • May assist with loading and unloading, and transferring chemicals from rail cars, tankers, totes and drums to holding tanks.
  • Safely load, unload and transfer chemicals.
  • Will observe pressure gauges; flow meters; adjust valves to regulate speed of pumps; control pressure and rate of flow.
  • Maintain pumps and lines by replacing filters, gaskets, tightening connections, and adjusting pumps.
  • May collect samples of material for lab analysis.
  • Record beginning and ending inventory levels of materials pumped.
