Operates, maintains, and services all power plant equipment including engine generator sets, boilers, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and motors. Performs water analysis on all systems and adds chemicals to keep levels in recommended ranges. The Power Plant Technician monitors and diagnoses control issues on systems integral to the operation of the buildings. Oversees and monitors building automation system and directs any issues to maintenance department. Keeps daily log sheets on major operating equipment. Understanding of electrical test equipment and procedures. Familiar with hand tools. Ability to work from blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals. Must have strong mechanical and electrical trouble shooting ability. Capable of accurate written and or oral explanations involving procedures, situations, and equipment.

Requirements

  • Understanding of electrical test equipment and procedures.
  • Familiar with hand tools.
  • Ability to work from blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Must have strong mechanical and electrical trouble shooting ability.
  • Capable of accurate written and or oral explanations involving procedures, situations, and equipment.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Must maintain good driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Trade or Vo-Tech school in a related area preferred.
  • Experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of power production equipment, boilers, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, water softeners and related systems.
  • May require Boiler license.
