Our central role includes managing the provincial power grid in real-time, overseeing and evolving Ontario’s electricity market, engaging with government, municipalities and Indigenous communities, and planning for Ontario’s future electricity needs. This role is a part of Power System Development business unit, Resource Planning Division, within the Planning Assessment team. This is a unionized position. The energy sector is rapidly evolving, offering exciting new opportunities for those who want to make a difference. As the Power System Planning Analyst within the Planning Assessment team, you will support long-term power system plan development that directly influence system reliability. The Power System Planning Analyst will be involved in supporting the necessary research, modelling and technical analysis required to develop integrated electricity system plans with a focus on electricity resources. You will also support the implementation of recommendations by informing decision‑making across the IESO by contributing analytical evidence. In a typical day, there will be a mix of planning, collaboration, and execution on your work assignments. Your time may be spent on leading or supporting initiatives, contributing to cross-functional discussions, and making decisions that drive progress on key long term reliability focused studies required for regulatory compliance and market rules. You may also conduct analysis to support electricity resource procurement-related activities. This includes contributing to technical analysis that underpins the IESO’s Reliability Outlook, Annual Planning Outlook, and regular submissions to the North American Electric Reliability Corporation and Northeast Power Coordinating Council.
