About The Position

Multi-Specialty Ambulatory Care Overview The Practice Manager provides operational leadership and administrative oversight for clinical operations across Family Medicine, OBGYN, Pediatrics, Dermatology, and Sports Medicine at a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). This role is responsible for the day-to-day management of Medical Assistant staffing, scheduling, and clinic operations to ensure efficient, high-quality, patient-centered care. Clinical leadership and clinical decision-making are provided by Clinical Directors for each specialty; the Practice Manager works in close partnership with these leaders to support effective workflows, staff performance, and exceptional patient experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in healthcare administration, nursing, or a related field
  • 3–5 years of experience in ambulatory healthcare operations or practice management
  • 1–3 years of supervisory experience managing clinical support staff
  • Strong understanding of multi-specialty outpatient workflows

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily clinic operations across multiple specialties, ensuring smooth patient flow, timely access to care, and efficient use of resources.
  • Serve as the primary operational partner to Clinical Directors in Family Medicine, OBGYN, Pediatrics, Dermatology, and Sports Medicine.
  • Identify and resolve operational challenges in collaboration with clinical and organizational leadership.
  • Lead the scheduling, deployment, and day-to-day oversight of Medical Assistants across all assigned specialties.
  • Develop and maintain staffing schedules aligned with clinic volume and provider templates.
  • Oversee hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and corrective action for MA staff.
  • Ensure appropriate cross-training of MA staff to support multiple service lines.
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and performance expectations to support MA engagement and growth.
  • Promote a collaborative, respectful team culture aligned with organizational values and health equity goals.
  • Partner with Clinical Directors to align operational supervision with clinical competency expectations.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and specialty-specific performance measures.
  • Ensure workflows support preventive care, chronic disease management, reproductive health, pediatrics, dermatology, and sports medicine services.
  • Monitor operational metrics and implement process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, OSHA standards, and organizational policies.
  • Support effective use of the EHR and accurate documentation by MA staff.
  • Participate in audits, site readiness, and operational improvement initiatives.
