SUMMARY OF JOB The Coordinator is responsible for pre-certifying patients for injections, procedures and other items, as assigned. Obtains information from incoming patients or representatives and enters information into computer, and informs patients of appropriate policies and procedures. Pre-certifies patient insurance benefits prior to procedure, surgery, or diagnostic test, and orders drug supplies from vendors and pharmacy-supplied medications. The Coordinator prepares, scans, and indexes interfaced documents to the correct billing number, ensuring quality control for inpatient and outpatient discharged records. Reviews medical records and addresses deficiencies to assure compliance. Picks up records, handles requests for patient release of information, answers telephone calls, and provides front desk coverage, as needed. Requirements

  • High School Graduate
  • One-year experience in a medical practice setting or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of health insurance, pre-certification requirements, chart requirements and medical terminology
  • Proven communication skills to interact with co-workers, patients/families, physicians, and computer and filing skills
  • Proven understanding of importance to maintain strict patient confidentiality
  • Complies with established dress code
  • Demonstrated knowledge of emergency prepared policies and procedures, and maintains safe work practices
  • HIPAA Compliant
