About The Position

To create a safe, nurturing and engaging class environment conducive to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with students; to support students’ cognitive, social emotional, physical and language development, motivate students to develop attitudes and knowledge needed for a strong foundation for continuing education in accordance with each student’s ability; to establish/foster healthy relationships with parents and other staff members.

Requirements

  • Ohio Teaching license from ODEW
  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree in ECE or CDA with specialization in Preschool or CPL 3 or higher, combined with experience.
  • Strong understanding of early childhood development

  • Ability to always be a team player and maintain a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Curriculum/Planning
  • Develops and implements age-appropriate weekly lesson plans aligned with Ohio’s Early Learning and Developmental Standards and Step Up to Quality approved Comprehensive Curriculum provided by the district
  • Collaborates with Kindergarten teachers to vertically align all curriculum maps to ensure continuity of learning
  • Reviews student performance on common screenings and assessments and adjusts educational goals and teaching strategies accordingly
  • Instruction/Lessons
  • Uses developmentally appropriate teaching strategies, hands-on activities, and play-based experiences
  • Modifies/Adjusts instruction based upon classroom assessment data to ensure mastery of concepts
  • Creates a warm, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that supports school readiness goals
  • Meets the individual needs of children, including those with special needs and learning differences
  • Fosters independence, problem-solving skills, and peer relationships
  • Submits a copy of the weekly lesson plan before the start of the week to the Director and posts it in a required area upon approval
  • Communicates regularly and professionally with families regarding children’s progress and daily activities
  • Health/Safety and Licensing Compliance
  • Follows all DCY and ODE licensing rules, school policies, and safety procedures
  • Maintains a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment
  • Completes and maintains all state-required training
  • Classroom Management
  • Actively supervises children at all times
  • Follows a daily schedule to create structured daily routines
  • Implements a positive behavior rewards system
  • Maintains accurate attendance records, incident reports, and other required documentation
  • Engages in ongoing communication with families regarding their children’s behavior and develops Positive Behavior Support plans as needed
  • Professional Development
  • Observes and collaborates with other teachers in the building 3x per year for mutual growth/development in accordance with the peer observation program
  • Attend professional development opportunities throughout the school year or summer for your continuous improvement
  • Meets or exceeds Step up to Quality required and Ohio Approved Professional Development hours.
  • Maintains OCCRRA account in good standing.
  • Reflects and evaluates lessons/policies/practices often
  • Additional Items
  • Builds a relationship with students and parents so that they know you want only the best for the student
  • Maintains a strong collaborative relationship with teachers, instructional support staff, etc.
  • Submits all required items to administration/office in a timely manner
  • Returns all communication to parents within 24 hours of receiving it
  • Be supportive of the PPA team at all times, but especially when speaking to parents and students
  • Communicates with supervisor in regards to staff not following policies of PPA
  • Completes anything assigned by the supervisor
  • Secondary responsibilities: Duties
  • Arrive to all scheduled duties on time
  • Supervise lunch, recess, and other duties as assigned
  • Follow assigned school duty guidelines in the PPA handbook
  • Meetings
  • Biweekly on the first day of the week at 7:30am with all instructional staff
  • Biweekly on scheduled day with the Pre-K Director
  • Weekly on Wednesday at 7:15am with the grade level team (TBT, Team, etc.)
