About The Position

Assist the teacher in implementing classroom activities and maintaining a safe, nurturing environment for preschool students. Under the supervision of a certified teacher, support daily routines, documentation, and communication to ensure compliance with district standards.

Requirements

  • Must meet one of the following requirements High school graduate or hold a General Educational Development (GED) certificate, and the ability to pass a locally approved paraprofessional academic assessment; or Completion of 48 semester hours of college credit; or Associate degree or higher
  • Current Texas Educational Aide certificate issued by the State Board for Educator Certification, or ability to obtain upon hire
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Experience working with children, preferably in a childcare, preschool, or early learning environment
  • Ability to work effectively and patiently with young children in both individual and group settings
  • Proficient organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
  • Support the administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or student assignments.
  • Help maintain a neat, orderly, and engaging classroom environment.
  • Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of instructional materials and equipment.
  • Support teacher in maintaining administrative records and preparing required reports.
  • Provide instructional and classroom support to multiple teachers or students as assigned, which may include rotating between classrooms.
  • Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
  • Conduct instructional activities the teacher assigns, working with individual students or small groups.
  • Supervise students throughout the school day, both inside and outside the classroom (e.g., lunchroom, bus, and playground duty).
  • Communicate student needs or concerns to the teacher promptly and appropriately.
  • Assist students with personal care needs (e.g., toileting, feeding, hygiene).
  • Adhere to all district policies, procedures, and expectations as outlined in the employee handbook and administrative regulations.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Participate in professional development, faculty/department meetings, and special events as assigned.
  • Perform additional duties assigned to support the mission and goals of the campus and district.
