About The Position

You can help us with that mission in the pre-registration department as a Pre-registration Representative . Your pleasant, friendly demeanor will set the tone as you contact patients and family members to complete pre-registration and other documents, help patients understand their liability, promptly return patient phone calls and inform patients of important items to bring to their procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of one year of healthcare experience or equivalent education in at least one of the following areas required: Pre-Registration Admitting Patient Access Applicable clerical support experience
  • Six months customer service experience required.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly in the English language
  • Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision, exercising independent judgment within stated guidelines
  • Strong written and verbal communication, and demonstrated effective interpersonal skills which promote cooperation and teamwork
  • Ability to withstand varying job pressures and organize/prioritize related job tasks
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks at the same time
  • Excellent public relations skills and demonstrated ability to communicate in calm, succinct, business-like manner
  • Ability to interact with people in stressful situations
  • Ability to identify alternative means of communication as needed
  • Ability to adapt to change
  • Net typing of 40 WPM and PC based computer skills
  • Familiarity with 10 key
  • Knowledge of medical terminology

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of two years college education including satisfactory completion of college level Health Records coursework preferred.
  • Previous registrar and third-party payer experience preferred.
  • An understanding of health plan and benefit structures preferred.
  • National Certification of CHAA preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Contacts patients and/or family members to complete pre-registration of demographic/visit information and documents outcomes per documentation standards.
  • Informs patient of estimated patient liability within regulatory required timelines and collects appropriate co-payments, coinsurances, deposits and payments over the phone.
  • Returns patient phone calls, answers patient inquiries regarding logistical information, informs patients of critical items to bring to the procedure.
  • Completes assigned administrative and downtime activities.
  • Works in collaboration with most Revenue Cycle departments and scheduling departments to create accurate medical and financial records.
  • Collects and provides required legal documentation to meet State and Federal compliance regulations.
