About The Position

The Pre-Sales Engineer is responsible for providing technical expertise throughout the sales lifecycle, from initial discovery to solution validation. This position serves as the technical bridge between the customer’s needs and the company's product capabilities. This role requires a blend of technical, communication, and analytical skills, with a focus on delivering value-driven solutions to the market. The Pre-Sales Engineer typically has a minimum of 5 years of experience in a technical sales or engineering role, preferably in a technical or SaaS environment. Goal The goal of the Pre-Sales Engineer is to drive sustainable growth by acting as the technical bridge between customer needs and product capabilities. This is achieved by translating complex requirements into technically sound and cost-effective solution designs that secure technical wins. The role supports Sensys Gatso Group’s revenue and profitability by leading technical responses to tenders, validating solutions through Proof-of-Concepts and product demonstrations, and ensuring proposals meet regulatory compliance and internal product standards. Position within the organization The Pre-Sales Engineer works in close collaboration with the Sales, Bids, Product Management, Engineering, and Support and Operations teams and reports to the VP of Sales and Growth. The Pre-Sales Engineer serves as a technical point of contact during the sales process, aligning cross-functional teams to ensure the proposed solution meets both customer expectations and internal standards. This role also maintains regular contact with end customers, partners, and regulatory bodies to gather technical insights and drive successful solution adoption.

Requirements

  • Self-motivated, self-managing, and a collaborative team player effective in complex, cross-functional environments.
  • Proficient in strategic and consultative selling, communication, and negotiation.
  • Strong "soft skills" including conflict resolution, creative problem-solving, negotiation, and the ability to build rapport with customers.
  • Proven experience in preparing and delivering presentations on the company's products and services.
  • Ability to thrive within a global management matrix structure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Google suite, and CRM software.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with traffic engineering standards.
  • 5 years of minimum experience in the automated traffic enforcement area.

Responsibilities

  • Translate complex customer and market requirements into detailed technical solution designs and specifications.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Product Management to ensure proposed solutions are viable and align with the product roadmap.
  • Identify and implement technical strategies to optimize solution performance and cost-effectiveness.
  • Develop and deliver compelling technical demonstrations and presentations that highlight the unique value proposition of the portfolio.
  • Research and define key customer personas to tailor demonstrations to specific user needs and pain points.
  • Conduct proof-of-concept (PoC) evaluations to validate assumptions and prove the product's effectiveness in real-world scenarios.
  • Lead the technical response for RFPs, RFIs, and tenders, ensuring all technical requirements and compliance standards are met.
  • Contribute to the product's business case by providing accurate cost analysis and technical effort estimations.
  • Work with Sales and Leadership to define technical pricing components and ensure the ROI is clear for the customer.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, technological advancements, and regional regulatory requirements to ensure products remain competitive and compliant.
  • Act as a representative for sales and external partners towards the local SG manufacturing unit and development team to support the Type Approval process and other necessary certifications.
  • Map customer journeys and service blueprints to identify potential regulatory or technical hurdles in new markets.
