About The Position
We are seeking a Medical Surgical Registered Nurse Preceptor (Transition To Practice) will mentor and train new nurses and nursing students. The RN Preceptor plays a crucial role in the preparation and development of new nursing staff, as well as in enhancing the skills of existing staff. Shift’s Available: Monday - Friday. No Weekends unless there is an event. Employment Type: Full Time Hours: 8:00AM - 4:30PM. Evenings as needed to educate the night shift. Requirements
- Current and valid state Registered Nurse license.
- Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
- Completion of preceptor class.
Nice To Haves
- Previous acute care hospital experience preferred.
- Ventilator Management experience preferred.
- Medical-Surgical Nurse-Board Certified (RN-BC) or similar certification; preferred.
- Current ACLS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current, preferred.
- Previous acute care hospital experience preferred.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provides guidance and consultation when needed, regarding effective patient care and scope of practice.
- Creates formal and informal learning opportunities for peers regarding practice issues, technology and/or current research, identifies and intervenes when staff weaknesses are identified.
- Responsible for the care given to his/her assigned patients.
- Communicates with the physician, nurse director, and coworkers about changes in the patient’s clinical condition including cardiac monitoring, results of diagnostic studies and abnormal results and symptomatology.
- Responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or response to treatment. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality. Works collaboratively with patients, patients’ family, significant other(s) and hospital staff to achieve goals and outcomes.
