About The Position

As a Preconstruction Estimator at First Onsite, you'll play a critical role in setting projects up for success from day one. Your work spans reconstruction and general contracting projects across the U.S. and neighboring countries, where you partner with leadership to define scopes, coordinate with subcontractors and Project Managers, and ensure every detail is captured with accuracy. From reviewing site conditions and analyzing bids to resolving issues and maintaining thorough records, you're the expert who keeps preconstruction moving smoothly and strategically. You'll be at the center of cost management and feasibility-tracking material and labor costs, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards, and staying ahead of industry trends. Collaborating closely with the Preconstruction Manager, architects, and other professionals, you'll solicit, review, and secure competitive subcontractor proposals that bring projects to life. With your eye for detail and ability to juggle multiple priorities, you'll ensure every project is prepared efficiently and effectively before breaking ground, supporting First Onsite's commitment to quality and excellence.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years estimating and/or preconstruction experience
  • A valid driver's license is required
  • Employees assigned to certain healthcare-related roles may be required to participate in additional drug and alcohol screening program(s) in accordance with client requirements, such as but not limited to Coalition for Construction Safety ("CCS") regulations in the state of Indiana.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, building construction, or related field, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead preconstruction for reconstruction and commercial projects across the U.S.
  • Coordinate trades, source materials, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Collaborate with leadership, Project Managers, and subcontractors to develop scopes of work and resolve issues
  • Prepare reports, documentation, take-offs, and bid analysis; track material and labor costs
  • Ensure quality, safety, and compliance with company and regulatory standards
  • Assist with project scheduling and change order management
  • Participate in site inspections and collaborate with architects and professionals
  • Stay current on industry trends, products, and procedures; respond to project needs 24/7
  • Ability to travel frequently and for extended periods as needed
