About The Position

In this role, you will operate and maintain press brake machines, which are used to bend, form, or punch metal sheets into specified shapes and sizes. You will be responsible for the daily setup and operation of hydraulic CNC controlled press brakes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in metal press forming and basic fabrication and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to set up, operate, and troubleshoot press brake machines, including adjusting settings and tools to meet precise specifications.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to understand the required dimensions and tolerances.
  • Familiarity with different types of metals (e.g., steel, aluminum, stainless steel) and their properties to adjust machine settings accordingly.
  • Skill in using measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and protractors to ensure accuracy in bends and dimensions.
  • Knowledge of programming and operating CNC machinery is essential for CNC press brake operators.
  • This position requires frequent lifting of materials weighing up to 50 pounds (occasionally up to 75 - 100 pounds, standing for long periods, and using hand tools and machinery. The role may involve working in various temperatures and environments, including exposure to dust and fumes from coatings. Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity are essential for all welding jobs.
  • Candidates must possess strong attention to detail to ensure high-quality finishes and adherence to safety regulations. Problem-solving skills are critical for troubleshooting equipment issues and maintaining production efficiency. Additionally, reading and comprehending technical documentation is necessary for following welding specifications and safety protocols. Practical communication skills are crucial for collaborating with team members and participating in safety meetings.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly desired but not required.
  • Strong metal press forming and basic fabrication background.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of fabrication, hydraulic press, and/or punch operations, including basic setup, is desired.
  • Experience with automated machinery and computerized systems related to fabrication processes.

Responsibilities

  • Setup and Operation: Set up and operate a hydraulic press or punch for routine established work.
  • Complex Programming: Perform complex programming using all press brake features.
  • CNC Programming: Program the CNC to produce new parts meeting specifications.
  • Tooling: Select the correct tooling for the job task with setup documents.
  • Tool Setup: Load, install, and correctly set up the tools required.
  • Quality and Time Standards: Perform assigned work to time standards and quality expectations.
  • Data Collection: Account for time and work completed via an online computer data collection system.
  • Material Handling: Safely operate a forklift to handle materials and completed work.
  • Problem-solving: Make routine decisions and use problem-solving skills to resolve basic manufacturing issues or seek assistance.
  • Reporting: Report and document basic material, production, and quality control issues.
  • Maintenance: Maintain performance log books on assigned area equipment and report deficiencies to the maintenance team.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Participate in equipment preventative maintenance at the operator level.
