About The Position

The Price Book Lead is responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and ongoing maintenance of the company’s item price book across all convenience store locations. This role ensures correct retail pricing, cost updates, promotions, and item setups while supporting merchandising, operations, and store teams. The Price Book Lead plays a critical role in margin management, execution consistency, and pricing compliance.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in price book management, pricing, or merchandising (retail or convenience preferred)
  • Strong understanding of retail pricing, margins, and cost structures
  • Experience working with POS and price book systems
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Excel and data validation techniques
  • Analytical and detail-oriented mindset
  • Strong problem-solving and follow-through
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
  • Clear communicator with both corporate and field teams
  • Process-driven with a continuous improvement mindset

Nice To Haves

  • Convenience store, grocery, or multi-unit retail experience
  • Experience with price zones and promotional pricing models
  • Familiarity with tax rules and regulated items (tobacco, alcohol, lottery, etc.)
  • Experience supporting large SKU counts across multiple locations

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and audit the master price book for all SKUs across the chain
  • Set up new items, including retail price, cost, tax flags, pack size, and category assignments
  • Execute retail price changes, cost updates, and margin adjustments in a timely manner
  • Ensure price consistency across stores, regions, and POS systems
  • Implement promotional pricing, temporary price reductions, and price zones
  • Coordinate pricing changes with merchandising, marketing, and operations teams
  • Validate promotional start/end dates and ensure accurate POS execution
  • Support compliance with vendor agreements and pricing strategies
  • Perform regular audits to identify pricing errors, margin issues, or data inconsistencies
  • Investigate and resolve store-reported pricing discrepancies
  • Establish and follow pricing controls, approval workflows, and documentation standards
  • Ensure compliance with legal, tax, and regulatory pricing requirements
  • Monitor margin performance and flag anomalies or risks
  • Prepare pricing-related reports for leadership and merchandising teams
  • Support cost change impact analysis and price elasticity reviews
  • Assist with year-end price book clean-up and SKU rationalization
  • Act as the primary point of contact for pricing questions from stores and field teams
  • Collaborate with IT/POS teams on system updates, testing, and enhancements
  • Train store support or merchandising staff on price book processes and best practices
