About The Position

As a Principal Associate on the Bank Tech Finance Team, you will be a strategic advisor for Tech as we build the long term strategic vision and investment needs for the Retail Bank organization. You will identify and utilize financial insights to help influence strategy, prioritization, and outcomes. This role requires strategic thinking and executive level communication as you directly support members of the Retail Bank Leadership Team. You will have the opportunity to build relationships across EFA, Retail Finance, Bank Tech, and the Retail Business, and work collaboratively to deliver on strategic agendas. Strong problem solving, judgment, and communication skills is needed to effectively: Develop repeatable processes, frameworks, and templates that help the team operate more efficiently as we integrate Finance systems and processes with Discover Stand up reporting cadences with Tech and Finance partners and communicate key variances and drivers to help our leaders stay fiscally well managed Work in unstructured environments to outline the financial impacts of platform convergence Deliver compelling insights to senior leaders, even when the information is evolving or imperfect General Responsibilities: Financial analysis & reporting: Accurately analyze & explain key cost drivers and monthly variances, suggest actions to the business, and manage the regular reporting process Budgeting, forecasting, and Profit & Loss (P&L) management Business presentations: Assist in development of presentations to communicate analysis results to senior audiences, clearly articulate outcomes of analysis to leadership teams Ad-hoc requests and special projects

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
  • At least 3 years’ experience in financial analysis
  • At least 3 years’ experience with financial modeling
  • At least 3 years’ experience in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Strong problem solving, judgment, and communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Master’s Degree in Finance
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) license or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
  • 4+ years’ experience in financial analysis
  • 4+ years’ experience with financial modeling
  • 3+ years’ experience in strategic analysis & planning
  • Proven business relationship, communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills
  • Demonstrated independent problem solving and strategic thinking abilities
  • Strong teamwork skills; ability to positively contribute to overall success of the team
