About The Position

L3Harris is seeking an experienced, proactive, and solutions-focused Principal, Counsel to join the Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) sector.  Reporting to the Senior Director, Counsel of the sector, this role operates as a legal specialist and business partner in providing strategic, proactive, and practical legal counsel and guidance to sector management and staff on general and specialized legal matters. Essential Functions:   Partners with leaders to assess, predict, and manage legal and other risks in a growing business operating internationally Advises, counsels, and functions as a trusted business partner on legal and other matters related to the business objectives of the sector Provides legal guidance and counseling on risk mitigation strategies, contract interpretation and provisions, dispute resolution, and other legal issues Negotiates, researches, drafts, revises, and / or analyzes agreements, contracts, memoranda, legal correspondence, and other legal documents Engages in factual investigation, analyzes complex legal and factual issues, conducts extensive legal research, independently develops, recommends, and presents strategies on a wide range of legal matters Ensures that sector practices and procedures comply with global, federal, state and local laws and regulations, and are consistent with applicable corporate policies and procedures Engages with customer counterparts as reasonably required in support of addressing certain complex legal / business transactional matters Collaborates with operational, subcontracts and supply chain leadership to ensure that contractual and operational risks assumed by the business are flowed down to subcontractors and suppliers Monitors, reviews, and resolves day-to day legal and regulatory issues as they are assigned Maintains knowledge of current and emerging laws, regulations, and trends

Requirements

  • Doctorate (JD) degree
  • Active state license to practice law
  • Active DOD Secret Security Clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Government contracts experience within the US DoD market is highly preferred, including both U.S. and international government and commercial customers
  • Experience in aircraft purchasing
  • Strong negotiation and dispute resolution skills
  • Personal commitment to ethics and compliance, and experience working in an environment with high ethical standards
