Principal Engineer Software (Go, Python, Security Posture Management)

About the position

At Palo Alto Networks, we are looking for innovators who are committed to shaping the future of cybersecurity. Our Cloud Management Platform is a public cloud delivered management platform designed to manage all Palo Alto Networks Next Generation network security solutions. This role is located at our dynamic Santa Clara, California headquarters campus, requiring in-office work 3 days a week. As part of our team, you will help build what is next, operationalizing and providing visibility using our network security portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Be part of technical leadership in distributed systems development.
• Deliver large-scale features while building robust, clean, and maintainable software.
• Showcase commitment to testing, metrics, observability, and tooling.
• Proactively reduce technical debt and improve overall system health.
• Enhance customer experience with a strong focus.
• Thrive in ambiguous environments and navigate uncertainty with confidence.

• Demonstrate hands-on experience with cloud services such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

Requirements

• Recent and proficient experience with Go, Python, or similar programming languages.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proven ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams with an emphasis on end-to-end delivery.
• Ability to break down complex problems in ambiguous areas.

Nice-to-haves

• Solid understanding of networking concepts.
• Experience working with systems at scale.
• Familiarity with security products and best practices.
• Background in AI/ML technologies and applications.
• Experience with graph databases (GraphDB).
