About The Position

Principal Financial Analyst In this role, you will work largely on our Consumer Checking business , with some partnership with our broader Retail Finance areas (Deposits, SBB, etc) , playing a critical role in supporting Retail's growth strategy. This is a high-visibility position responsible for several notable areas for Checking including horizontal profitability, valuations partnership with our business partners, variable cost analysis, and close partnership with the business and our Finnovation team on our data journey, among many other impactful deliverables. You will have the opportunity to partner with the Retail Bank business on driving strategic direction that leads to sustainable performance and you will be asked to challenge our current well-managed processes to be more proactive, effective and efficient. Principal Financial Analysts perform financial data analysis in preparing Profit & Loss or other statements and frequently build reports for higher level associates; provide management and business clients with project statuses; perform reporting and analysis to support presentations and ad-hoc requests. The role requires strong communication, problem solving, critical thinking, and influencing skills in order to effectively: Articulate outcomes of analysis and relevant insights Develop presentations to communicate business and analysis results to senior audiences Foundational knowledge of SQL, Xstream, and Gemini will be incredibly helpful in this role as well.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in financial analysis, financial modeling, or a combination
  • strong communication, problem solving, critical thinking, and influencing skills
  • Foundational knowledge of SQL, Xstream, and Gemini

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering) or military experience
  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Master’s Degree in Finance
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) license or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
  • 5+ years of experience in financial analysis and financial modeling
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • 3+ years experience in financial services, banking or technology industries
  • 3+ years experience partnering with senior leaders and internal stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Financial reporting and analysis, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, financial reporting, and Profit & Loss (P&L) management
  • Collaborate with system analysts to maintain and develop system to house models
  • Coordinate and collect input data from Financial Analysts in different departments, check data integrity, summarize and convert data, run models, verify, analyze, and communicate output data
  • Business presentations: Assist in development of presentations to communicate analysis results to senior audiences, clearly articulate outcomes of analysis to leadership teams
  • Ad-hoc requests and special projects
  • Independently manage and prioritize workload
