About The Position

Under the general direction of the Director of Corporate Security and the Sr Manager, Corporate Security Services, the Principal Security Specialist will lead and manage high-performing teams to enhance the detection, correlation, and analysis of internal and external threats to Constellation's people, assets, and reputation. Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Corporate Security Services, the Principal Security Specialist will be responsible for overseeing support to various business units/departments, including Human Resources, Cyber Insider Threat Program, Legal, Ethics Investigations, Nuclear and other miscellaneous business units. The role involves implementing innovative solutions, to include AI technologies, to improve threat detection and analysis, ensuring the security and safety of Constellation's personnel and assets. This includes managing and coordinating efforts across different departments and collaborating with key stakeholders to effectively address security concerns and training for Workplace Violence. The Principal Security Specialist will play a crucial role in safeguarding the company's reputation and ensuring the overall protection of Constellation's interests. This role, at the direction of the Ethics Office, has responsibility in conducting Code of Business Conduct and Workplace Violence investigations and will be looked to within the Human Resource, Ethics office, Insider Threat, and Legal Department and other organizations as a subject matter experts in these areas.

Requirements

  • Requires a BA or BS in criminal justice, political science or equivalent security studies, or related discipline or 10 to 15 years' Corporate Security Experience.
  • 10 to 12 years of law enforcement experience with a medium to large agency or the equivalent of working as a private investigator and/or corporate security experience in a medium to large company.
  • Excellent communications skills, both written (investigative reports) and oral.
  • Demonstrates strong investigative skills with minimal oversight.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Strong and independent time management skills, including the ability to prioritize competing demands and to manage numerous investigations and general security events and/or issues simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal directly with cross functional groups to establish trust, communicate effectively, and build consensus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Experience in conducting risk assessments of physical facilities and use of technology.
  • 24/7 availability.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, as required for job assignments.
  • Ability to obtain Concealed Carry Permits for applicable states, as necessary.
  • Ability to obtain Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA) qualifications.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree, MBA or master's degree in related field or a JD with labor and employment experience.
  • Certifications: Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Threat Manager (CTM) and/or other related certifications.
  • Ability to understand problems in the context of the bigger picture and influential relationships as well as the overall industry and marketplace in which Constellation operates.
  • Knowledge of Insider Threat investigations, reporting, investigative tools, and laws/regulations.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance through the United States Government (USG).
  • Ability to use AI technology

Responsibilities

  • Working under minimal direction, serves as the subject matter expert in conducting investigations through all phases of the investigation cycle from complaint intake to preparation of investigatory findings.
  • Ensure accurate investigation case reporting and identify trends and/or potential risks based on investigations conducted. Support development of recommendations to address those trends.
  • Partner with Ethics, Human Resources Operations, Insider Threat, and business leadership to establish productive relationships, provide controls and risk mitigation guidance and assist with addressing trends where appropriate.
  • Actively participate in the development of the strategy, policy, technologies and process for Corporate Security and the Business Units.
  • Perform additional duties related to the business units, ethics and labor and employment at the request of the ethics office and/or the Central Investigations Team.
  • Conduct independent, complex, impactful investigations throughout the Corporation while being Threat Program Qualified and lead.
  • Conduct training iterations on Workplace Violence Prevention, Street Awareness, and other security-related issues.
  • Provide security guidance and oversight for Corporate Security functions, events and activities, including (but not limited to) supporting operating companies/business unit infrastructure support, provide support to Executive Services/Protection when requested, Business Continuity or Business Unit tabletop exercises, security for company sponsored events (internal/external), and Crisis Management.
  • Lead risk assessments for critical infrastructure, offices, and support facilities to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities and threats, ensuring the implementation of necessary security measures.
  • Ensure familiarization with regulatory requirements in the protection of critical infrastructure, incidents/incident reporting and conducting investigations that includes but not limited to, e.g., FERC, NERC, Maritime Security, DOT, CFATS, Nuclear Regulatory Requirements, etc.
  • Sustain firearms training and qualification requirements as deemed necessary as part of job responsibilities.
  • Established liaison network within local, state and federal law enforcement and industry partners.
