Job Summary Under the direction of the Senior Manager, Global Solution Architects, North East , the Principal Solutions Architect is a senior field technical resource on the Global Technical Sales Team, responsible for the most complex, multi-region strategic engagements across the enterprise customer portfolio. Working in close partnership with Field-based Account Executives, this role leads end-to-end architecture strategy, drives the technical win on high-profile opportunities, and serves as a trusted advisor and authoritative presence with senior and C-level stakeholders. This is a high-visibility role that demands a superior blend of deep technical expertise, executive engagement capability, and strategic vision. The ideal candidate brings a proven track record of accelerating enterprise customer transformation journeys at scale, with mastery across digital infrastructure, interconnection, and hybrid cloud architecture.

Requirements

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills with demonstrated ability to lead executive-level engagements with CIO, CTO, and EVP-level stakeholders.
  • Deep technical expertise in data center and interconnection services, recognized as an authority across the full Equinix portfolio.
  • Advanced ability to design and articulate global, highly customized architectures spanning hybrid cloud, multi-cloud, and complex interconnection scenarios.
  • Proven ability to orchestrate cross-functional teams across regions for strategic opportunities and large-scale product or solutions rollouts.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills across sales, product, marketing, and partner GTM teams.
  • Continuous learning mindset with demonstrated technical certifications or relevant domain education.
  • Delivers professional customer design documentation, reference architectures, and executive-ready deliverables.
  • High performance standards with a relentless focus on execution, customer outcomes, and experience quality.

  • 10+ years of technical sales or solutions engineering experience in enterprise field-facing roles.
  • Senior technical background in the data center industry, networking, service providers, and hybrid cloud architecture.
  • Strong proficiency with Networking concepts specifically in Layer 2 and Layer 3
  • Experience leading technical qualification, discovery, and stakeholder alignment for large, complex, multi-region strategic engagements.
  • Familiarity with Platform Equinix footprint and interconnection portfolio.
  • Strong understanding of leveraging partner networks and ecosystems to drive customer outcomes.
  • Experience with recurring revenue, sales complexity, solution selling, and enabling platforms for B2B.
  • Experience engaging and selling to different personas and lines of business.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related engineering discipline preferred.
  • Advanced industry certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Position the Global Platform Lead strategic platform discovery and qualification for major enterprise opportunities, establishing trusted advisor status with senior and C-level stakeholders across multi-region accounts.
  • Champion the platform promise of reach, reliability, and interconnection, positioning Equinix’s differentiated advantage across data center, digital services, and managed services portfolios.
  • Translate complex platform and ecosystem capabilities into compelling, outcome-oriented narratives tailored to executive and business personas.
  • Own the technical win end-to-end: whiteboarding, high-level discovery, and comprehensive technical account plan development.
  • Drive stakeholder relationship management across the sales team, leading the technical engagement process and channeling product feedback to improve portfolio outcomes.
  • Go into every customer engagement fully prepared: personas, research, desired outcomes, and disciplined AE partnership.
  • Interconnection Value Selling Articulate the full value of Equinix’s interconnection portfolio, including Equinix Fabric and cross-connects, to senior technical and business stakeholders across enterprise accounts.
  • Position ecosystem value and differentiated interconnection advantage across multiple personas and lines of business.
  • Guide customers through network modernization, hybrid multi-cloud, cloud-adjacent storage, and data adjacency use cases.
  • Develop and document reference architectures and strategic use cases that drive measurable customer outcomes and expand platform adoption.
  • Help customers identify and leverage destination strategy, network magnets, and ecosystem effects to maximize the value of Platform Equinix.
  • Architecture Strategy and Solutioning Own end-to-end architecture strategy for assigned enterprise accounts, delivering consistent, comprehensive, and accurate technical account plans.
  • Drive global technical strategy across complex, multi-stakeholder engagements, coordinating across supporting GTM teams to deliver a unified and superior customer experience.
  • Lead customer workshops, executive briefings, and whiteboard sessions for transformational technology decisions spanning hybrid and multi-cloud modernization journeys.
  • Support sustainable digital transformation by aligning Equinix capabilities to multi-year customer roadmaps and evolving infrastructure strategies.
  • Scale market sensing and customer feedback to inform product and services portfolio improvements.
  • Leverage partner ecosystems to deliver joint technical solutions, maintaining agnostic and neutral advisory positioning at all times.
  • Contribute to GTST communities through knowledge sharing, team enablement, and continuous learning.
  • Be an industry expert: stay current on data center, interconnection, AI infrastructure, and hybrid cloud trends through continuous education, certifications, and self-directed learning.
