About The Position

We're looking for a Principal Systems Architect focused on Google Workspace to join Remitly's IT team, reporting to our Senior Manager, Employee Productivity. You'll help build our Google Workspace platform to support agile processes to operate at scale, building a best in class tech stack and automations between systems to achieve it. You'll accomplish this by partnering closely with the IT Infrastructure team, Security and business stakeholders to drive decisions. Your important work will directly impact how we operate as a business to meet the needs of our customers and internal stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in the Information Technology Field, with a minimum of 4 years focused on Google Workspace architecture, security, and governance for a large-scale, global organization.
  • Proven experience designing and leading large-scale projects, such as Google Workspace migrations, complex security rollouts, or integration projects.
  • Expertise in enterprise architecture and design principles for cloud collaboration platforms.
  • In-depth understanding of Google Workspace security best practices, data loss prevention (DLP), eDiscovery (Vault), and conditional access policies.
  • Strong experience with REST API, JQL, AQL, JIRA APIs, and webhooks for system integration and automation.
  • Exposure to Project Management, Risk, SDLC, Agile, Financial Institution related activities, Regulatory requirements, and Security controls.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, documentation, verbal, and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the architectural design and evolution of Google Workspace, including the governance hierarchy and policy inheritance model that enables consistent security enforcement for users and Workspace-managed devices across the organization.
  • Develop and maintain the multi-year roadmap and strategy for Google Workspace, including adoption of new features, platform lifecycle management, and migration planning.
  • Define and enforce governance, security, and compliance standards across all Google Workspace applications (including Gmail, Drive, Vault, Chrome, etc.) in partnership with the Security team.
  • Serve as the highest-level subject matter expert for Google Workspace, advising IT and business leaders on technical strategy, capacity planning, and risk management.
  • Design and oversee complex technical integrations between Google Workspace and other enterprise systems (e.g., Workday, Okta) using APIs and automation tools.
  • Own the vendor relationship with Google and our vendor for technical strategy, new contracts, and escalation of high-priority issues.
  • Create and maintain high-quality architectural documentation, standards, and best-practice guides for engineering and operations teams.
  • Drive cross-company partnerships to increase the organization's maturity and effective adoption of Workspace tools.
  • Mentor engineers and administrators, elevating platform literacy and architectural thinking across IT.
