About The Position

As a Principal Systems Engineer, you will lead the technical and strategic definition of next-generation power management solutions for high-density AI data centers in 2026 and beyond. Your work will turn innovation in Intermediate Bus Converters (IBCs) and Hot-swap controllers into measurable business impact—growing market share, improving customer TCO, and accelerating time-to-market. • High-impact scope: Shape the standards, architectures, and products that power the next wave of AI infrastructure. • Cross-functional influence: Partner closely with product, R&D, operations, and executive leadership, as well as hyperscalers and industry bodies. • Cutting-edge technology: Work at the forefront of GaN/SiC, HVDC distribution, VPD, advanced thermal management, and reference solution development.

Requirements

  • Education: PhD in Electrical Engineering (Power Electronics focus).
  • Experience: 10+ years in the semiconductor industry with a proven track record launching high-volume power products.
  • Customer Presence and Mindset
  • Strong on-site presence at customer locations; conduct deep technical reviews that build long-term trust.
  • Customer-first orientation focused on solving real pain points, not just selling silicon.
  • Executive presence; comfortable presenting to Division VPs and CTOs at major cloud providers.
  • Technical Domain Mastery
  • Expert knowledge of isolated and non-isolated DC/DC topologies and Hot-swap controller design.
  • Deep understanding of PDN impedance and thermal management in liquid-cooled environments.
  • Proficiency in schematic/PCB design; hands-on bring-up, system debug, and lab validation.
  • Clear understanding of hardware/firmware/software interactions in system design.
  • Ability to create, review, and approve engineering requirements specifications.
  • Capability to model and characterize power systems and components.
  • Business Acumen
  • Demonstrated ability to balance cost/performance trade-offs and present compelling business cases for new investments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with 800V HVDC distribution and emerging high-voltage data center safety standards.
  • Strong commercial mindset; ability to identify blue-ocean opportunities where innovation meets unmet market needs.
  • Knowledge of AI accelerator power profiles to guide application-specific power ICs.

Responsibilities

  • Shape Strategy: As the primary bridge between market needs and internal execution. Influence stakeholders across Product Lines, Business Lines, and corporate functions to secure R&D prioritization, capital allocation, and alignment for AI-focused roadmaps. Engage system architects at hyperscalers to shape their power delivery implementations.
  • Architect Systems & Product Definition: Anticipate the evolution of rack bus architectures, including Vertical Power Delivery (VPD). Drive the integration of wide-bandgap materials (GaN/SiC) to meet the extreme transient requirements of generative AI workloads. Influence cross divisional roadmaps for Digital controllers, drivers, Aux power ICs, HotSwaps, Efuses, POLs, IBC modules and FETs (GaN, Si, SiC).
  • Turn Innovation into value: Ensure products directly address customer pain points—reducing data center energy use, improving rack reliability—while meeting revenue and schedule goals.
  • Drive the Ecosystem: Influence standards and architectures through bodies such as the Open Compute Project (OCP) to align the industry with our technology roadmap.
  • Define the Next Generation: Co-develop specifications for IBCs and Hot-swap solutions that match the rising power demands of future AI accelerators. Partner with hyperscale cloud providers to translate hardware roadmaps into scalable DC/DC topologies and system solutions. Prioritize reference designs with the highest ROI.
  • Set the Vision: Lead the transition from 48V to 400V/800V HVDC distribution. Develop strategies for IBCs to handle higher input voltages safely and efficiently, and shape the semiconductor technologies and packages required to execute.
