About The Position

BAE Systems, Precision Strike Business Area has an immediate opening for a Systems Engineer to support production of the Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS). Key Responsibilities: Identify and lead continuous improvement activities aimed at mitigating or eliminating problematic designs, build processes, and test plans. Work collaboratively with cross-functional team to resolve supply chain issues. Collaborate with external suppliers and internal procurement teams to meet program technical requirements. Support periodic audits of suppliers' facilities and processes. Engage regularly with production floor personnel to develop fixtures, improve processes, and increase product quality. Provide technical assessments to Material Review Boards to resolve non-conformances. Skillfully present technical data to internal and external customers. Work within schedule and budget constraints and elevate concerns if challenges arise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field in addition to 6+ years of relevant industry experience or equivalent.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance - secret or higher.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience writing custom MATLAB and/or Python scripts/applications to process and visualize complex data sets.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skillset, especially data processing in Excel.
  • Familiarity with production factory metrics SPC, L6S, CPK, and trend analysis (Green Belt preferred).
  • Desire to learn and work with custom software tools and GUIs.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with the Paperless MES System.
  • Experience in engineering guided projectiles.
  • Knowledge of common military and industry specifications and standards.
  • Experience with laboratory integration and test activities involving electronic systems.
  • Experience briefing leadership teams.
  • Understanding of military operations and application of munitions seeker technologies.
  • Desire to learn about weapon system operation and test methods.
