Role Description: Collins Aerospace is where innovation meets precision in the development of cutting-edge simulators and training systems for both military and commercial sectors. We harness advanced technology to craft specialized training solutions tailored to some of the most challenging roles in aviation. Our products range from simple desktop trainers to sophisticated, full-scale flight simulators equipped with high-fidelity weapon systems, full visual motion, and simulator interoperability. By merging real-world scenarios with virtual environments, we deliver the simulation and training tools necessary to stay ahead in a dynamic world. In this position, you will focus on the decomposition and design of complex training device features and interfaces. You will work in a fast-paced, modern, agile development environment, and collaborate closely with software and hardware to build and test advanced mission capabilities and features. This position requires a US Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance and the ability to maintain SAP access. This position is onsite in Sterling, Virginia, and most of the job functions are performed inside of a closed area.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
  • Active and transferable U.S. DoD Secret security clearance is required prior to start date.

  • May have broad knowledge of project management.
  • Requires substantial knowledge of RTX projects, programs or systems in order to provide enhancements within job area.

Responsibilities

  • Define and derive systems engineering requirements, including interface definitions and requirement verification and validation
  • Define operational concepts and support working groups with customers.
  • Apply Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies to support the development cycle using Cameo.
  • Contribute to agile planning meetings and help define acceptance criteria for features based on customer requirements.
  • Participate in customer demonstrations of new features or prototypes and incorporate customer feedback into our designs.
  • Influence decisions within your work area and promote modular and efficient system designs.
  • Coach and review the work of junior engineers.
  • May lead small development efforts or processes within work area.
  • Provide estimates for development efforts.
  • Cultivate a culture of ownership, accountability, innovation, and technical excellence.
